Case Studies
Issue: Woodberry Events wanted to relocate their server room to a different floor.
Solution: ProActive Network Consulting took full responsibility for the project. We took bids from multiple vendors for data wiring, phone system move and general contractor to modify the space. Once the infrastructure work was complete, we moved all of the IT equipment, servers, racks, firewalls, and switches to the new location early Saturday morning to reduce downtime.
Result: In the end, the users left work on Friday and when they returned on Monday every system was operational. In fact, users were online by Saturday afternoon.
Issue: Execushield wanted to eliminate hosting their server internally.
Solution: ProActive recommended moving the server to a data center to eliminate the overhead of hosting the equipment. We took responsibility for the project. Our engineer created a point to point VPN between the office and the datacenter so internal users could access the servers as if they were in the office.
Result: First, the project saved them space in their new office. Second, their remote users received improved access speed to files and emails because the data center offers a 1 gigabit connection to the Internet. Third, internal users have direct access as if the server was in the office.
Issue: Husic Capital was pushing the upper limits of Exchange 2003 mail capacity.
Solution: ProActive recommended a Microsoft Exchange 2007 server to address capacity issues since Exchange 2007 can handle multiple Terabytes of email data. In addition, we recommended running on VMware to address disaster recovery requirements.
Result: Husic has plenty of space for emails and the Exchange server is hardware independent.
Issue: Schoenberg Family Law Group opened a new office in San Francisco. They wanted a complete turnkey IT solution.
Solution: ProActive recommended Microsoft Small Business Server to house data and email for the new office. We helped them with the IT portion of building out a new office. For example, we spec’d out the data wiring and server room requirements. ProActive consultants worked with general contractors and vendors to coordinate the build-out. We also setup the new workstations and software applications.
Result: The firm principal was able to focus on her law clients while we took care of the technology. Schoenberg successfully moved into their new office on time and ready to work.
